Summary: Love not only stings when you lose it, when it’s ripped away, but when it first sinks its teeth into you, it can cut just as raw and sting just as deep.
Unfortunately, I had forgotten that.
I was allegedly South Dakota's most famous Old Lady.
Fifteen years ago I had survived my Old Man’s murder
and swore to myself never again.
Never again surrender my heart.
Never again sacrifice to the Club.
But that all changed in one night.
I came home and crashed into him,
and my past and present blew up in my face.
Both of us lonely, running on empty, and unwilling to admit it.
I feel things I'd forgotten about, want things I had cut out of my insides.
Who holds the keys to betrayal? To suspicion? To trust?
To brotherhood? To family?
To a bleeding heart?
Right now, I just might.
I suppose some of us have to get really dirty before we can become truly clean.
Flirty Review: FIVE LIP BITES
Anyhoo...Grace Quillen is back in Meager, South Dakota after being away for over 15 years. She left after her husband, Dig, a One-Eyed Jack MC biker was killed in a devastating murder. The only reason she came home was to help out with her sick sister Ruby. But a one-night stand lands her back into the fold of the One-Eyed Jacks. Enter in Lock, a loner if you will, who is searching for something more than what he's been doing for years. That something more is falling in love, being apart of something more that matters than just the MC. They call him Lock for a reason, he had a tendency to lock away his feelings but with Grace they seem to pour out of him. Before they both know it, Grace and Lock are falling in love. Two people, both guarded, open up to each other and remember what it's like to care for something bigger than themselves. Love that!
Of course this isn't the only part of the story that drew me in. There is an on-going riff with a close MC, the Demon Seeds. Fifteen years ago, Grace's husband wasn't just killed he was murdered by a Demon Seed who happened to be the antagonist of the story, Vig's, nephew. There has been a MC war brewing for years but with the reemergence of Grace in South Dakota, the tides start to tip and things escalate. By this time in the book, I was super hooked and I really couldn't put it down.
I'm going to leave it at at that because I really want you to read this book.
So if you're a fan of the MC romance, Lock & Key will not disappoint. There is a very good balance of romance, intrigue, mystery, and suspense that drove the book home for me. I would suggest supporting this author and other MC books she has to come in the future.
