Takedown Teague: This is not made for TV. This is the raw, brutal underground of no-holds-barred combat. Inside the cage there is nothing but me and the pain I inflict on those who dare enter. In the cage, I never have to worry about anyone but myself. Yet, when she began standing outside of the cage, everything changed. I was no longer fighting for the money or the glory – I was fighting for her.
Trapped: Bizarre rituals on a remote island in Maine.
My crazy neighbor lying naked in the produce section of a grocery store.
The sting of a knife as it slices through my flesh.
Now I know why they say life is never easy.
The soft touch of Tria’s hand against my chest is the only thing that keeps me going, but there are consequences. As a fighter, I should be able to deal with anything life throws at me, but there is one circumstance I simply can’t handle.
I only have one coping mechanism: a tube around my arm and a needle in my vein.
Released: Oblivion is a sweet, sweet place.
No pain. No disturbing thoughts of the past. No guilt from my recent actions.
Deep down, there is still a part of me that knows how screwed up I am. I don’t see a way out, not now. Tria’s gone, and the possibility of her forgiving me in my current state is exactly zero. I know I have to pull myself together, accept my responsibilities, and try to make amends, but I have no idea where to start.
No job. No apartment. I’m living on the streets with the other junkies. As little as I had to offer Tria before, I have nothing to give her now. The only way out is to come clean and tell Tria the truth about my past, but the idea of reliving the memories is so painful, I can’t think about it long enough to figure out a solution.
I’ve hit rock bottom, and I don’t even know which way is up any more.

Shay Savage is back again with another strong male protagonist. I have always said that Savage really knows how to write a great male character perspective. It's a tough thing to get into the mindset of another gender, especially writing them so they are believable. Kudos to Savage for taking on a character that is not only flawed and approachable, but balanced with great sexual attractions and affection. Savage made me feel for Liam Teague like she made me feel for Evan Arden in her other series. Liam and Evan are characters that you wouldn't normally love, but find yourself rooting for them in every way.
Like most of her books, the female perspective is not shown. But we still get a great sense of Tria's place in Liam's life. I liked to picture her as Liam's lost kitten. Or if you want to get all mental, she's the extension of his lost potential as a parental figure, but that may get a little squeaky to think about since she's his love interest. All and all, Liam takes Tria in in a act of chivalry albeit, with a more sinister sexual undertone. That undertone soon morphs into much more as their relationship develops.
What I would have loved to see more was more emphasis on his fighting. Liam is a cage fighter by trade and that's exactly how he treated it, as a job. The summary to me was almost misleading. Caged in it self makes me think the book was going to be like a MMA fighter type of a book when it's really a hardcore emotional roller coaster with some cage fighting thrown in. That aspect didn't turn me off. I quickly understood where this book was going and I appreciated it.
The second book in the trilogy was the most forgettable, in my opinion. Although it was a good book, I almost felt that we could have skipped to the third and went from there. We get to see though the real development of Tria and Liam's love affair. We also get to see the downfall of it. There is no denying that book two leaves us with a pretty big cliffie, but it made me scramble to get to book three. I was dying to find out what happened to Liam and Tria. Savage created that "want" that is so important to readers. The writing style was excellent and the downfall of Liam as we see him falling quick is so hard to read but so needed in the story. The story of Liam Teague is the Phoenix coming from the ashes and Savage does a magnificent job showing us.
What I was left scratching my head over: Tria's life on the island with her cult family and upbringing. What was the real purpose of that? I felt that it should have either been developed more or just taken out completely. Oh well.
Aww, sweet redemption. The book of healing as far as books in trilogies go. Liam has been through so much and we see him rock bottom in Released. Remember I mentioned the Phoenix, well he soars in this book. It's a slow burn but we see it and Liam's transformation into a healed man is one to really watch. Tria is back and willing to stand by her man as he fights his demons and come to terms with his past and how his behavior affected it more than he knew. We get to journey with Liam as he struggles with Tria's pregnancy and how he feels about becoming a father. I loved Tria in this book. She was strong and stood her ground with Liam. There was no going back for her. Savage keep her character consistent and it helped a lot with Liam's character as he grew in the story. Can I say I love Michael as well. What a perfect example of good angel on your shoulder.
This trilogy is a must read. I loved everything that Savage has put out and this isn't any different. She created solid, real, hard-hitting stories that punch you in the gut and they french kiss you when it's over with.
