Summary:
Leah Marino hasn’t been on a date in two years. After discovering the man she loved had manipulated and deceived her, she refuses to even entertain the idea of a relationship. Instead, she focuses her attention on taking care of her family, a role she’s assumed since the death of her mother and the one place she knows her kindness won't be taken advantage of again.
When a nostalgic trip back to her childhood home results in a chance encounter with Danny DeLuca, a smart-mouthed mechanic who’s as attractive as he is mysterious, Leah's carefully cultivated walls begin to crumble. She finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Danny, despite his unreliable behavior and mixed signals.
But Danny has a secret...
One that could shake Leah's already precarious foundation and bring her world crashing down around her. Suddenly, she's faced with an incredibly difficult decision--is she willing to risk everything for the chance at finding the love she's always wanted? Or are some obstacles just too big for the heart to overcome?
Flirty Review: FIVE Lip Bites
Leah Marino is scarred by her former boyfriend. She hasn't dated in two years and when she meets Danny Deluca, it's not love at first sight. There are no fireworks or electrical zaps. She sees a man with a caring heart albeit a little rough. With Glenn's grasp on show vs. tell you see that there is a interest there, and the story quickly develops between the pair.
Danny Deluca is a complex, multidimensional character. You don't learn his "secret" until much later in the book and I was really surprised at what it was. I had it all worked out in my mind what I thought it was, but was completely wrong and I loved that. Glenn threw me for a loophole and it worked so well. Of course, I'm not spilling what it is, you'll have to read the book.
Glenn's characters continued to do what I didn't expect them to. It was nice being wrong when I tried to predict the direction of the book. Maybe I was being blind because I was so engrossed in the book, but I truly was entertained and felt all the feels that Glenn was trying to convey. She hooked me with Leah and Danny.
If you want a sweet, romantic, and different love story then Coming Home is the book for you. It's realness really sets it apart from other books I've read and I think that's what really creates such a nice appeal for the reader.
