A New Adult Romance Novel by USA Today Bestselling Author Priscilla West
Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.
The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.
Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”
Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “The Hammer.”
Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.
Lorrie knows that Hunter is exactly the type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.
As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?
Flirty Review: Three Lip Bites
I won't make any secret that I loved Hunter more than Lorrie. We are in Lorrie's head more, but the sweetness mixed with cockiness that Hunter delivers makes him more endearing. I mean the kitten thing stole my heart. *Happy sigh* Hunter is a complex man, but in the end, he just wants to be loved unconditionally like anyone else. And Lorrie is the same way, but she couldn't get out of her head enough to realize that. By the end of the book, I wanted to strangle Lorrie. She made some stupid assumptions that are classic cliches these days in books. Ahhh, the lovely miscommunication.
I'm not going to rehash what the book is all about, you can read the summary. I'll just sum up what I really liked about it:
And what I really didn't like:
Lorrie. And the whole middle of the book that was dedicated to kinky sex scenes that had no purpose whatsoever to the plot or the storyline. Pretty much gratuitous. Hot, but gratuitous. Ms. West, one or two sex scenes would have sufficed. Congratulations, you just made your book erotica, but New Adult, but romance. I don't know, I'm confused now.
Here's why I'm dying to read book two: THERE WAS A CLIFFHANGER! For the love of Pete! West left us hanging. I think I roared with vulgarity when I read the end. And plus, without giving away the end, Hunter pretty was beat to a pulp and Lorrie did nothing but make it worse. AHHHHH!!!
Now, should you read this book. Sure. It's a total page turner, and if you like sexy hot stuff, you're in luck. And, Hunter, you know. Enough said. He's adorable and hot and awesome. But if you're the type of reader that likes resolution in your books, wait for book two to come out and then read them both. The second book releases early this year some time.
